How it works

No bureaucracy, no drama. Just a clean, professional process from booking to certification.

Service engineer inspecting lifting equipment in a care setting

1) Book an inspection or service

Email or call. We'll agree a suitable date/time that works around your residents and staff. If you have an equipment list, great — if not, we can build it on site.

2) Inspection, tagging, and reporting

We carry out the work respectfully and safely, working around your residents and staff throughout. Equipment is tagged on the day. You receive straightforward results and practical next steps — not vague waffle.

3) Clear documentation — ready the same day

You receive a written report for every item inspected — covering what was found, any defects noted, and recommended actions. Formatted for CQC audit files and written to be understood by non-specialists. If anything needs follow-up, we explain it clearly before we leave. No waiting days for paperwork.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from care home managers and maintenance leads about LOLER inspections and hoist servicing.

How often do patient hoists need a LOLER inspection?
LOLER requires thorough examinations at least every 6 months for equipment used to lift people. Some environments or equipment types may need more frequent checks — we will advise based on your specific setup when we visit.
Do you cover care homes outside of Reading?
Yes. We cover care homes and care settings within approximately one hour of Reading, including Oxfordshire, North Hampshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, and North-East Wiltshire. If you are unsure about your location, just get in touch — we are happy to confirm coverage.
What types of equipment do you inspect and service?
Our primary focus is patient hoists, stand aids, slings, and lifting accessories subject to LOLER thorough examination. We also support a wider range of nursing and care equipment — including profiling beds, bathing aids, wheelchairs, medical couches, patient scales, suction units, and evacuation chairs — for condition checks, servicing, and maintenance. If you are unsure whether your equipment falls within scope, please ask and we will advise.
What happens if a piece of equipment fails its inspection?
We will clearly explain the issue on the day and in our written report. We will advise on whether the equipment can continue in use (with restrictions), needs immediate withdrawal, or can be repaired. You will know exactly what to do next — no vague paperwork.
Do you provide paperwork that stands up to CQC scrutiny?
Yes. Our thorough examination certificates and service records are designed to meet LOLER requirements and support CQC inspections. We provide clear pass/fail outcomes, equipment identification, and practical next steps in every report.
Can visits be carried out while the home is operating?
Yes. We work to fit around your routines — arriving at agreed times and working quietly and professionally around residents and staff. There is no need to suspend normal operations. All engineers are Enhanced DBS-checked and safeguarding-trained, and are accustomed to working in active care environments.
Do you work with single homes and multi-site care groups?
Both. We work with individual care homes and with multi-site providers managing several properties. For group providers, we can help coordinate visits across sites, standardise equipment records, and produce documentation in a consistent format across the estate.
What happens after I get in touch?
We aim to respond the same day — usually by email first, with a call if you have provided a phone number. We will confirm what equipment needs attention, agree on suitable visit dates, and advise on anything useful to prepare beforehand. There is no commitment required to make an enquiry, and you do not need an equipment list — we can compile one on site.
